Sony is still locked in a legal tussle with Tencent over claims that Light of Motiram plagiarizes content from Sony’s flagship PlayStation franchise, Horizon.

While the litigation persists, recent developments show the two tech and gaming giants have initiated talks to settle the disagreement, per a court-mandated order. This development has led to a delayed hearing date, alongside the enforcement of interim restrictions on the game.
A key clause in the official document specifies that the hearing extension “shall not be cited as grounds to argue that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) delayed filing its preliminary injunction request.” Additionally, the order bars Light of Motiram from any form of promotional activity for the duration of the preliminary injunction proceedings. What’s more, the game is prohibited from launching prior to Q4 2027.
Tencent has been given a deadline of December 17 to submit its response to Sony’s preliminary injunction application.
